Cloudy
Video of the Day: Cloudy
A short by artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III of FriendsWithYou.
This animated short is an exploration into the clouds; a sweet, visual soundscape that takes the viewer through a personal journey into the sky. Sing, dance and relax as you follow a cast of clouds and raindrops through an entrancing adventure you'll wish to take over and over again.
FriendsWithYou explores animism, giving the main cast of characters a soul. The purpose of the piece is to transcend the viewer to a peaceful and joyous state. Clouds singing and performing their duties in a joyful manner show us that everything in our world has a role and a purpose.

The V Motion Project
Video of the Day: The V Motion Project
by Assembly PLUS
This project combines the collective talents of musicians, dancers, programmers, designers and animators to create an amazing visual instrument. Creating music through motion is at the heart of this creation and uses the power of the Kinect to capture movement and translate it into music which is performed live and projected on a huge wall.
We created and designed the live visual spectacle with a music video being produced from the results. We wanted it to be clear that the technology was real and actually being played live. The interface plays a key role in illustrating the idea of the instrument and we designed it to highlight the audio being controlled by the dancer. Design elements like real time tracking and samples being drawn on as they are played all add to authenticity of the performance. The visuals are all created live and the music video is essentially a real document of the night.

Steve McQueen in Bullitt: The Chase
Video of the Day: Steve McQueen in Bullitt: The Chase
Bullitt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Bullitt is a 1968 American dramatic thriller film directed by Peter Yates and produced by Philip D'Antoni. It starred Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn and Jacqueline Bisset. The screenplay by Alan R. Trustman and Harry Kleiner was based on the 1963 novel Mute Witness by Robert L. Fish, a pseudonym for Robert L. Pike. Lalo Schifrin wrote the original jazz-inspired score, arranged for brass and percussion. Robert Duvall has a small part as a cab driver who provides information to McQueen.
Released by Warner Bros.-Seven Arts on October 17, 1968, the film was a critical and box office smash, later winning theAcademy Award for Best Film Editing (Frank P. Keller) and receiving a nomination for Best Sound. Writers Trustman and Kleiner won a 1969 Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Motion Picture Screenplay. Bullitt is notable for its car chase scene through the streets of San Francisco, regarded as one of the most influential car chase sequences in movie history.[2][3][4][5]
In 2007, Bullitt was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[6] In 2008, the Ford Motor Company produced the Mustang Bullitt model for the 40th anniversary of the film. The Bullitt nameplate on the steering wheel honored the movie that made the Mustang one of the most popular cars of the 1960s and 1970s. The green color was also brought back for the anniversary edition."

Screened at AND Festival
http://www.andfestival.org.uk/
This is a compilation of moments captured between 2007 and 2010.
I was always greatly impressed with David Hockney's joiners. They seemed to capture so much more of the "moment" than conventional photography.
I started playing around with video joiners in 2007, about the same time Photoshop allowed you to layer video clips. They seemed like nice little snatches of time, so I pretty much continued shooting them throughout most of 2007 and 2008 when the mood struck.
I don't seem to shoot them any more.

The Secret Number
Video of the Day: The Secret Number - Full Film from Colin Levy on Vimeo.
"The Secret Number" is a short sci-fi (ish) psychological drama that was created over a period of two years by a team of young filmmakers from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Based on the short story by Igor Teper, THE SECRET NUMBER is about a man whose world is thrown into question. Psychiatrist Simon Tomlin (Daniel Jones) has a troubling conversation with one of his patients - a brilliant mathematician named Ersheim (Tom Nowicki), who intends to prove the existence of a secret integer between three and four. Ersheim's delusion compels Tomlin to dig deeper, but he only uncovers more questions -- about fate, connection… the nature of reality.

Destino
Video of the Day: Destino
Notes from Wikipedia:
The film Destino began in 1945 with a creative collaboration between American animator Walt Disney and Spanish painter Salvador Dali .
Storyboard for Destino («Fates" - in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese) drew within eight months (in late 1945 - early 1946), artist John Henchy (from Disney) and Salvador Dali, but the project was canceled by Disney because of financial problems associated with World War II . Henchy has provided Disney animated 18-second test in the hope of once again cause Disney's interest in the project, but Destino still considered unprofitable and postponed indefinitely.
In 1999, Disney's nephew Roy Edward Disney , who worked at the time of ' Fantasia 2000 ', has decided to revive the forgotten project. To do this, have decided to use a small branch of Disney in Paris. The producer of the cartoon was Bladuort Baker , a director - French animator Dominique Monferi , speaking for the first time in this capacity. Using the help of the Henchy, as well as diaries wife Dali - Gala Dali , a group of twenty-five animators "deciphered" the intricate drawings of Dali and Henchy, and embodied in the life of the project.
The result is a cartoon created by the technique of the traditional (hand drawn) animation using computer graphics. The original 18-second video included in the film (in a scene with two turtles ).
